Sony launches new Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision

Sony just launched the new UBP-x700 Blu-ray player with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, however it didn’t implement the new HDR10+ standard which has better image quality by processing dynamic metadata instead of static. Let’s take a look at the main features that it comes with.



The main feature of the player is that it supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards:

Here is a list of some other important features that will give users the possibility to play a wide variety of multimedia content, including High Dinamic Range (HDR) content, and it comes with built-in support for streaming services like Netflix and Hulu:

  • 4K upscaling up to 60p
  • Dolby Atmos
  • Multimedia player
  • Support for streaming services
  • WiFi with MIMO

Unfortunately it doesn’t support the following features:

  • HDR10+
  • HI-RES Audio
  • Bluetooth

If you are looking for the best audio experience for connecting to your Home Theater System, we’ll have to wait, or go for the upper options Sony UBP-x800 or UBP-x1000ES.



The back panel of the Sony UBP-x700 player allows the following connections:

  1. Ethernet input
  2. HDMI out (Video/Audio & Audio only)
  3. Coaxial Digital out
